Road to Recovery: Count Me In is a joint initiative of Fair Count, Inc., and the Southern Economic Advancement Project.
Founded in 2019 by Stacey Abrams and anchored in Georgia, Fair Count works to build long-term power in communities that have been historically undercounted in the decennial census, underrepresented at the polls, and whose communities are often torn apart in redistricting.
Fair Count seeks to end extractive organizing in historically marginalized communities and lay in its place long term relationships using every iteration of civic participation—the decennial census, the American Community Survey, voting, and redistricting—as catalysts for continued civic engagement as well as fair and accurate representation.
Launched in 2019, the Southern Economic Advancement Project (SEAP) partners with policy thinkers and doers to amplify their efforts and bridge gaps in policy infrastructure. SEAP’s goal is to advance policies that improve economic security, healthcare access, and environmental justice for all Southerners.
In the wake of Covid-19, SEAP formed the SouthStrong coalition of more than 200 organizations and scholars calling for a more equitable post-pandemic South. SEAP was founded by Stacey Abrams and is a fiscally-sponsored project of the Roosevelt Institute.
